To know, to do, to be

To be

To be

“Be” refers to the characteristics, attitudes, believes and actions of the guardian. For the guardian, the "being" relates to the importance of putting in action the personal capacities and skills and applying the own knowledge when exercising their role in relation to the child and to all relevant state actors, service providers and private actors.

The “being” is a combination of personal, social, civil and cultural dimensions and the way these different levels interact with the guardian’s story and experience.

Guardians of unaccompanied children should be able to combine knowledge and skills from a range of disciplines and apply them in the way they act and behave:

“To KNOW something, we believe one needs to do something active with the knowledge. It is impossible to DO something unless there is some content involved (KNOW). BE reflects what an individual does with the KNOW and the DO.”[1]
