Life, survival, development

The right to life, survival and development of the child (UNCRC Article 6) refers to the right of every child to receive support to fully develop their individual resources, potentials and capacities. From an early age, this support shall promote the child’s development into adulthood and independent life. While all children have a right to development, each child may have different needs of support to enjoy this right in practice.

The right to life, survival and development is closely related to the right of the child to health, including access to clean water, food and nutrition, health care services and treatment, as well as an adequate standard of living.
